Opening Weekend!!

Opening night has arrived!!!!
Yesterday we had our first dress rehearsal which was CHAOS backstage. As this show is a farce, there are costume changes and props galore. So I was madly taking notes for order of props to basically toss at people as they run by me backstage! At first it was really stressful for me to keep it all organized, but now I have it super organized and ready to open tonight!
We have been cleaning and weeding and making the theatre look its best for our first audience of the season!
I will make sure to take some more pictures and post them soon.
Off to rest before our last dress rehearsal!

two left hands

I have been running around like crazy the last few days.
I am props designer for Home is Where Your Clothes Are. So in the last few days I have, sewed a curtain, designed a British payphone, sewed 2 drawstring bags, printed off English pounds, painted some set, swept berries..... (Mulberries to be specific) *shakes fist at tree* as soon as you sweep, 10 more fall from the tree.... that tree is just lucky the berries taste great.
I'm glad i am not in this show. I had a bit of a break this week to find props, so I went to Omaha to get more supplies, and hopefully (cross your fingers), am done shopping for the most part.
Its gonna be a big week. We open our first two shows this weekend!!!!!! Woo!

Woodshedding

Hello really crazy rehearsal schedules! What's up?
So we had an 8 hour rehearsal of snoopy the other day. then a read through of grand prize after.
then the next day we started official grand prize rehearsals. we block six beats then do what is called woodshedding. which means to memorize and shed the script. basically you do one beat and run it 6 times until its memorized. then you combo different beats together. its a BIG job.
yikes.
an interesting process all the same.
i'm tired all the time...
i hope my body gets used to this schedule real soon!!!!

ps.
i found a snake yesterday that had been run over by a semi.
it looked cool.

It's Snoopy Time!

Hello everyone! I am also at Brownville Village Theatre along with Heather and Jeff. We spent the day in Omaha yesterday buying supplies for our different committees (I am working in the props section.) We had to buy items for each of the 5 different shows we are doing this summer. We are going to have to create a lot of objects which should be interesting. For example: An antler chandler, hand puppets, a prop dummy/mannequin, x-rays etc. It has been an exhausting last 5 days. We only get about 5 hours off for food breaks, otherwise from 9am-11:30pm we are working nonstop! Crazy!

Today we have been working on Snoopy all day and tonight we are doing a read through for Grand Prize. Woo memorization!!
